Hey Everyone, I wanted to switch it up this week and shed some light on an insurance myth that I hear a lot. Many people are under the impression that we, the agents and insurance agencies, have control over the rates of the policies; this is not true. Your insurance rates are set by the Insurance Company, say Allstate, for example, approved by the insurance department for your states such as Kansas or Missouri. At the client's request, insurance agents can make changes to the policy that would increase the rate or decrease it. For example, you purchase a new vehicle and the price to insure it costs more than your old vehicle, your agent suggests that increasing your deductible would lower the cost.
I hope this sheds some light on one of the big insurance myths I hear as an agent. In the future, I will switch back and forth with the Am I Covered series and Insurance Myths. If there is anything you would like me to cover, please send an email or comment on the post below. Thanks for reading, and I look forward to hearing from you!
